Obituary for Alyne "Ma" D. Pedersen
Alyne Delores Ma Pedersen, age 91, of Luck, WI, formerly of North Minneapolis, passed away April 24, 2015 of natural causes. She was born in Taylors Falls, MN on November 10, 1923 to John and Ida Beckrich. She was the youngest of nine children. Her father passed away when she was six weeks old, and her mother died when she was fifteen.
Alyne worked various jobs in Taylors Falls as a teen, primarily as a housekeeper and babysitter. On June 18, 1939 she met and fell in love with Vernon K. Pedersen of Luck, WI who had a service station in Taylors Falls. When Vern went to war in 1942, Alyne moved to Minneapolis and worked for Honeywell on the assembly line for the war effort. After the war, Alyne and Vern got married on November 24, 1945. They made their home in North Minneapolis and started raising their family of four boys and one daughter. Alyne was your typical homemaker, bringing up her family, enjoying her many friends, and participating in church and school activities. When Vern passed away in 1972, Alyne started working for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange as a cleaning woman to keep herself active and to make ends meet.
In 1975 she met Desmond Jones, a stone mason from South Wales. It was through Desmonds many contacts that Alyne met people and started cleaning their homes. Among her clients were Von Konnonenburg, President of WCCO, Max Winter, Owner and CEO of the Minnesota Vikings, and Fred Seed, President and CEO of Cargill, Inc. After the gentlemen passed away, Alyne continued to clean the homes for the widows until their passing. When Desmond died in 1979, Alyne retired and became active with the Westfall American Legion Post in Robbinsdale and the Victory Memorial V.F.W. Post in Minneapolis. She was also a member of the local Red Hatters group. Alyne loved to cook and bake and kept busy making food for various functions at the American Legion. She also loved to make meals and desserts for her friends and neighbors too.
In 2008 Alyne and her son David moved up to Luck from North Minneapolis. With her outgoing personality and general charm, she made many friends in and around the Luck area. Many people didnt know Alynes first name as she would always introduce herself as MA. Many of the townspeople today still dont know her given name. The staff and nurses at the Frederic Nursing Home also called her Ma. Alyne loved singing, dancing, and having fun and kept the staff and patients at the nursing home in generally good spirits. The nurses told the family that some of the patients hadnt laughed or sang in years until Ma got there. Alyne had a sign on her wall that she looked at every day. It said Live Every Moment Laugh Every Day Love Beyond Words. She followed that credo up until the very end.
Today Ma is going to a better place to bring good cheer to a new group, and to see her beloved husband Vernon, son David, fianc Desmond Jones, parents John and Ida Beckrich, 7 sisters and 1 brother, and her many friends who have passed before her. May you rest in peace, Ma, and may God bless you.
She is survived by her loving children, Kenneth (Kathy), Ronald, Douglas (Theresa) and daughter Kathleen McLean (Scott); 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29th from 4-7 p.m. and also 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday, April 30th at 11a.m. at the Rowe Funeral Home in Luck.
