Obituary for Anthony J. Tuynman
Longtime minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Anthony J. Tuynman, 49, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday morning, November 11, at his home in Luck, WI.
Family members and friends described him as an extraordinarily loving, cheerful, and generous person.
“Tony brought kindness to a level that I’ve never seen in a person before. No matter what problem he faced, he was always positive and encouraging. He greatly enriched my life and the lives of thousands of others,” said a close friend.
Tuynman was born in St. Croix Falls. His family lived in Milltown. He graduated from Unity High School in Balsam Lake and spent more than 35 years in the ministry.
Tuynman supported his family by working as a logger and wind generator installer. Witness ministers do not accept a salary.
He was a member of the Milltown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
“Although he battled brain cancer for the last 18 months, I never heard Tony complain about this or anything else. He drew tremendous comfort from his faith, and he continued to share in the door-to-door ministry right until the end. Talking to others about the Bible and helping people in any way that he could was what he loved to do best,” a friend said.
Tuynman gave talks at assembles of Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout the region.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Tuynman.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; his mother, Muriel Tuynman of Milltown; children, Dillon Tuynman of Siren, Daniel Tuynman of Luck, Alissa Lechleitner of Frederic, and Amanda Tuynman of Luck; grandson, Becker Tuynman of Luck; sisters, Andrea Ness of Duluth, MN, Annette Schallenberger of Frederic, and Anita Christensen of Milltown; brothers, Adrian Tuynman of Frederic and Arlyn Tuynman of Sierra Leone, Africa.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Frederic High School, 1437 Clam Falls Drive, Frederic, WI.
