Avis Lindblad, 77, of Grantsburg, WI passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the U of M Fairview in Minneapolis.Â
Avis was born on March 2, 1942 to Henry and Jessie Amundsen in Frederic, WI. Avis graduated from Frederic High School in 1960 and went on to earn her cosmetology license. She was united in marriage to Ronald Lindblad on October 13, 1962. She owned and operated Avis’s Beauty Salon for 30 years, from her own home, while raising her two children, Sheri and Randy.Â
Avis was a faithful and devoted member of Trade Lake Baptist Church. She was a woman who loved her Lord and Savior. Avis loved sharing God’s story and love with children and taught Sunday school for many years. She also served as a youth group leader for many years. Alongside her husband, Ron, Avis served as caretaker of Skonewood Christian Retreat Center for 27 years.Â
In her spare time, Avis loved watching her Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers, along with watching game shows on TV.Â
More than anything, Avis loved spending time with her family and never missed the opportunity to watch her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their sports and activities.Â
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron Lindblad of Grantsburg, WI; daughter, Sheri Finch of Grantsburg, WI; son, Randy Lindblad of Brooklyn Park, MN; three grandchildren, Shane (Natalie) Finch of Grantsburg, WI, Payton Lindblad and Jayden Lindblad of Brooklyn Park, MN; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Finch and Allie Finch; brother, Henry (Patricia) Amundsen; sister, Joyce (Gary) Peterson; and brother -in-law, Duane (Karen) Lindblad.Â
Avis was preceded in death by her father, Henry E. Amundsen; mother, Jessie E. Amundsen; brother-in law, Paul Lindblad; sister-in law, Anna Lindblad; and nephew, Keith Lindblad.Â
Memorial services will be held at Trade Lake Baptist Church, Frederic, WI on Saturday, December 21, 2019 - visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Â
