Richard John Hacker Jr. ended his journey January 2, 2018 after an inspirational battle with cancer for almost 3 years.
Butch, to all who knew him, was born in Grantsburg, WI on July 10, 1949. He grew up in Cushing, WI where he graduated from Luck High School in 1967. He went on to work in home construction for 29 years and then He and Sandy purchased Hacker’s Lanes bowling center in 1997.
Butch was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather who took great pride in his family, photos of whom could be seen on display throughout the bowling center. His passion in life was deer and turkey hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, and fast-pitch softball.
He is survived by brother, Billy Hacker; sister, Diana Funk; sons, Don (Kim) Hacker of Elk River, MN, Joe (Angie Helin) Hacker of Luck, WI; stepson, Scott (Renee) Anderson of Rice Lake, WI; stepdaughter, Kim Bruss (Kelly Hicks) of Siren, WI; “daughter-in-law”, Jen Rickeard of Milltown, WI; brother-in-law, Jim (Gerry) Prodger of Burnsville, MN; and 12 grandchildren, Emily, Melissa, Taylor, Paige, Keenan, Andrew, Austin, Eric, Mackenzie, Kaitlyn, Lucas and Brian; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends on the staff at the bowling center, and an entire community he considered extended family.
Butch was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandy; his father, Richard Hacker Sr.; mother, Cora Hacker; brother, Dennis Hacker; and brother-in-law, Paul Funk.
A private memorial service will be held. His wishes included that there be a Celebration of Life, which will be held at Hackers Lanes on the afternoon of Saturday, February 17th beginning at 2 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Frederic Area Cancer Walk/Run on May 12th, an event very important to Butch, Sandy and the entire family.
