Obituary for Chester H. Olson

Chester H. Olson, a wonderful husband, loving father and an awesome grandfather passed away peacefully on September 11, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Home in St. Croix Falls, WI at the age of 93. He was born at home to Freeman and Bernice (Randall) Olson at Cushing, WI. Chester was baptized and confirmed at the Cushing Lutheran Church, later becoming a member of the Atlas Methodist Church, where he served on the council for many years. He lived his entire life in Cushing, attending school first at Lanesdale and graduating high school from St. Croix Falls in 1940.

On September 23, 1944 he married Deloris Brown of Frederic, WI. To this union three children were born, Sandy Fox of St. Croix Falls, Scott (Cheryl) of Cushing, and Cindy (Howard) Berenschot of Almena. Besides his wife Deloris and children, Chester is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Heidi Kisler, Stacy McCurdy, Trent Fox, Mariah Gaffey, Ashleigh Olson, Jared Olson, Emily Norton, Howie Berenschot; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are sister, Ardyce Hlavac of Minnetonka, MN and many other special relatives.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Bernice; brother, LaVerne Olson; sister, Shirley ODell; and son-in-law, Larry Fox.

In his spare time Chester played cards, pool, horseshoes and bowled on a league. He was an avid reader and when not working, you rarely found him without something to read in his hands.

On December 20, 1921 when God looked down he needed someone special, so he made a farmer; one who loved his family, adored his grandkids, got up early, worked late, and spent many hours on a John Deere. Yes, Chester was born to be a farmer, which was evident in the fact that he milked cows until he was 82 years old. His heart never left the farm where he worked his entire life with pride and integrity. We love you Pa and will miss you dearly.

We will be celebrating Chesters life on Friday, September 18 with a visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. and a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Atlas United Methodist Church. Please join the family for fellowship following the service.

An online guestbook is available at www.rowefh.com or www.wicremationcenter.com . Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, 715-472-2444 and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown, 715-825-5550.
