Clarice Lucille (Lund) Nelson was born November 28, 1923 to Louis and Hazel Lund of Bone Lake, Wisconsin and passed away at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN on September 27, 2018. Clarice attended Lafollette grade school and Luck High School and was raised on a large farm in the Bone Lake area with her seven siblings.
Clarice married Eugene Nelson on November 8, 1945 and they had 3 children: Larry, Linda and Laurene (apparently they ran out of “L” names). She enjoyed music and dancing, especially old time music, watching the Brewers games, spending time with family, and working! She waitressed until she was 86 years old and talked for several years after that about getting a part-time job.
In her younger years she worked in housekeeping at the Luck Hotel, worked at a bank in Chicago, was a nanny, and then beautician. She also worked at Duncan YoYo, Minneapolis Plastic Molders, Pioneer Bar, cooked at 7 Pines Lodge, and waitressed at the Skol Haus in West Sweden and at Countryside Restaurant.
Some of Clarice’s favorite memories were of attending dances with her parents and dancing with her dad, who was a great dancer. She loved having many friends and socializing as much as possible. The last year of her life was spent living at the Pioneer Home in Luck, where she kept the staff on their toes with the bantering and joking they shared.
Clarice is survived by her children, Larry (Sharry) Nelson, Linda (Al) Andersen and Laurene (Dan) Edge; her 4 grandchildren, Steve (Barbi) Prodger, Tim Prodger, Jeremy (Suze) Nelson, and Jamie Nelson; her 5 great-grandchildren, Jasper Nelson, Marit Nelson, Carter Nelson, Madeline Nelson and Brandon (Samantha) Halvorson; her 5 great-great-grandchildren, Emma, Wynn and Elizabeth Halvorson, and Aiden and Delilah Herrick; her brother, Jim (Tootie) Lund; sister, Geralyn (Paul) Pett and sister, Merlyn Bowers; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; her sister, Phyllis Most; and brothers, Vernon, Donald and Lloyd.
There will be a Celebration of Life with a light lunch on Saturday, October 6th, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at The Lions Club in Luck. Please come and share your special memories and stories about Clarice.
