Sandy (Clayton) Sandberg passed away at his home on January 19, 2018. He was born on November 8, 1930 to Edwin and Mary Sandberg in Oak Park, Illinois. He grew up in Los Angeles, California with his parents, five brothers, and a sister.

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the armed forces airborne branch where he achieved his sergeant stripes and became a paratrooper.

He moved back to Los Angeles and choose the life of a truck driver, and taught dances classes on the side. He met the love of his life, Doris Koskela, at the Palomino Dance Club and married on June 3, 1955.

Dad drove truck over the road for a few years and then moved his family to Minnesota to be close to Mom's family in Wolf Lake, Minnesota. Eventually he was hired by Murphy Motor Freight Lines in the Twin Cities and moved his family there.

In 1971 he moved to Frederic, Wisconsin, where all his children decided to reside. Dad and Mom took on one more adventure when they moved to Chetek, Wisconsin and bought a resort on Ten Mile Lake where Dad became the President of the Resort Association and Big Momma became his First Lady. Many years Dad worked in the Twin Cities and worked the resort. At 55 he retired from truck driving and then sold the resort and moved back to Frederic to live out their lives by their children.

Dad’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and auctioneering. His greatest joy was feeding the animals around town and rescuing stray cats.
