Obituary for Cora M. Hacker
CORA MATHILDE (EMERSON) HACKER Cora, living her last evening in the family home; she left this life on her own terms on March 6, 2014. She was born July 31st, 1930 to Wesley and Doris (Lind) Emerson in Sterling Township. Cora married Richard Hacker on October 9th, 1948. To that union, 4 children were born and raised on the family homestead. Mom worked at home to raise us until we all went to school, cooking, cleaning, canning, raising cucumbers in summer for Stokely Cannery, wrapping bobbins for the Duncan Yo-Yo factory, anything to help raise the family. She then took a full-time job at the Alcan Manufacturing sewing factory until retirement. Mom was awesome at throwing feasts on the table in what seemed matters of minutes, for anyone that stopped by. The fragrance that could come out of that kitchen was amazing with homemade breads, cookies, foods of all kinds. No one should ever leave her table hungry! Mom was famous for cookies of all kinds, at the ready, for anyone who stopped by...the belly full, bags full, or pails full. She enjoyed sending them home with everyone. Through the years, there wasn't a grandchild she didn't help to raise, and care for. She never could say "no" to a chance to help out and snuggle. Mom made blankets by the dozens, coats for all of us-big kids to the little ones. When something needed patching, she would literally take it off you, and have it back on you in minutes, and loved every minute of it. A smile and a "thank you" was all she needed! Cora was a member of the Laketown Lutheran Church for many years. She helped out whenever and wherever she was needed. Mom is survived by her children: Richard (Butch) Hacker Jr., Bill Hacker, and Diana (Hacker) Funk; 5 grandchildren: Donald (Kim) Hacker, Joe Hacker, Amy (Harold) Huber, Mike Funk (fiance Heidi Stock), and Dana Hacker; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews! She will be sorely missed by family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Doris; husband, Richard Sr.; son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Butch); son-in-law, Paul (Diana) Funk; 6 sisters-in-law; and 4 brothers-in-law. Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Cushing, WI on Saturday, April 12th - visitation will start at 10 am, followed by the service, with a luncheon in the downstairs Fellowship Hall to follow. A thank you goes out to Hacker's Lanes and Linda Richter for providing the food, the Laketown Church for the desserts and serving, and the First Lutheran Church for all the assistance with the service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.rowefh.com or www.wicremationcenter.com . Rowe Funeral Home of Luck and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown are entrusted with arrangements, 715-472-2444 or 715-825-5550.
