Obituary for Dahle H. Jenssen
Dahle Howard Jenssen, age 85, passed away peacefully Friday, August 5, 2016 from a chronic illness at the Cumberland Extended Care Unit, Cumberland, WI. He spent his final days and hours with family and friends sharing memories.
Born on June 7, 1931 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin he was the second child and only son of Fred and Ruby (Ayers) Jenssen. Dahle grew up in Bone Lake Township on the family farm with his three sisters, attending LaFollette Grade School and Luck High School. He was confirmed at Bone Lake Lutheran Church in 1946. On June 15, 1957 he married Mabel Bergstrom from Turtle Lake, WI after a courtship beginning at the local roller skating rink. Dahle and Mabel then purchased Fred and Ruby's family farm. In later years, they enjoyed outings with the square dancing club. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with the community at the Bone Lake Lutheran Church. This summer they celebrated 59 years together.
Dahle was a strong, hardworking man with a lot of life experiences who devoted his life to providing for his family from their dairy and beef farms as well as F&J Sawmill partnership with his brother-in-law. He instilled both his work ethic and love of the outdoors in his children and grandchildren. He served on the Bone Lake Lutheran Church Board and worked at the church lunch stand for many years during the Polk County Fair. It was a break in the summer work to enjoy the fellowship with friends and neighbors while peeling potatoes and husking sweet corn. Fair time was also a special family time entering his and Mabel's garden produce and antiques along with the children's 4-H projects. In later years, he enjoyed seeing his grandchildren's 4-H projects as well. He was very proud of his grandchildren and was always interested in hearing about their many adventures. Annually he would take his family to the Minnesota State Fair to see his favorite exhibits, animals and machinery hill.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was proud of his trophy bucks, bear and fish. He liked seeing the wildlife on family vacations to Glacier National Park and Banff National Park in Canada. He also enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World in Florida and Washington D.C. on later vacations.
Dahle was preceded in death by his parents; son, Freddy; and sister, Lavonne Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; children, Kathy (Jeff) Weisensel and Steven (Lucie) Jenssen; grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Sturm, Kelsey (Brandon) Nelsen, Lindsey (fiancé Dave) Weisensel, Melissa and Michael Jenssen; great-granddaughter, Sophie Sturm; and sisters, Frances Falb and Mary (Russell) Berg. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10th with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. at Bone Lake Lutheran Church, 1101 255th Avenue, Bone Lake Township, Luck, WI, followed by interment at Bone Lake Cemetery. Rev. Ann Fenlason will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dahle's life.
Pallbearers will be Russell Berg, Michael Jenssen, Dan Bergstrom, Jeff Weisensel, Paul Falb and Philip Seeger (representing his late father, Millian Seeger). Honorary Pallbearers are Alvin Tyler, Joe Franzen, Al Koltunski and John Bazey.
