Obituary for Darlene Ann Petersen
Darlene Ann Alden was born July 27, 1931, in Frederic, WI, to Clarence and Grace Alden. She graduated from the Frederic High School in 1949. She was employed at Olson Drug during her school days, beginning work at 12 years of age, and after graduation ventured to Minneapolis to work in an office. After one year, she moved back and was married to Reno Petersen on May 28, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Frederic. She worked as a Telephone Operator in Luck for three years and they then moved to the cities where she continued as a Switchboard Operator at Honeywell. They returned to Luck to raise a family, choosing country living over the city. They were blessed with two children: Kendall John in 1957, and Rena Lea in 1960. Darlene was a stay-at-home-mom until the children were in school and she began her job in 1968 as a bookkeeper at the United Pioneer Home in Luck. She enjoyed needlecraft, flower gardening, and snowmobiling. She semi-retired from her position at the United Pioneer Home in 1995, but continued to do payroll (and she would have completed her 40th year of service in April, 2008). Darlene died at the St. Croix Falls Hospital on September 2, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Alden; husband, Reno; brother, Leslie; sister, Dorathy; nephew, Dennis Alden; great nephews, Andrew Miller and Nathan Anderson. She is survived by son, Kendall; daughter, Rena (Rick Brandon); granddaughter, Danielle Marie Budreau and her father, Rob Budreau; brother, Kenneth (Kathy); and also aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. In Darlene’s words – her memories: “All the loving and caring friends and relatives. And last but not least, I have been so fortunate to have married Reno, and to have the most beautiful, caring and loving family anyone would ever want. ‘I love you guys!!’” Funeral services were held Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Luck Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Hall officiating. Interment is at the Luck Village Cemetery. Rowe Funeral Home of Luck, Wisconsin, was entrusted with arrangements.
