Darlene Joyce Holmberg, 85, passed away peacefully at Frederic Nursing and Rehab with family by her side.
Darlene was born on December 19, 1932, to Clarence and Helen Hallberg of Balsam Lake. Darlene was the second of eight children. She was raised on a dairy farm outside of Balsam Lake. She graduated from Balsam Lake School. She married Dorrance “Willy” Holmberg on November 1, 1952. They had three children.
Darlene loved relaxing and fishing with her husband, Willy, at their cabin on Bluff Lake. She also loved driving around Crex Meadows, doing yard work, gardening, bird-watching, picking agates and hunting morel mushrooms. She was an awesome baker and cook. Darlene also worked many jobs throughout her life and performed a lot of volunteer work for the community and church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Helen; brothers, Doug, Gary and Jerry; and sister, Bea.
She is survived by her husband, Willy; sons, Scott (JoAnn) and Jeff (Sherri); daughter, Midge (Ron); brothers, Tom (Bonnie), Stu and Gene; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Frederic on Friday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch to follow.
