Obituary for Donald L. Munson
Donald L. Munson, age 75, passed away on October 26, 2016 of heart failure.
Don grew up in Minneapolis and Bloomington, MN, the second son born to Ina and Elmer Munson. Don graduated from Bloomington High School in 1959. He served in the Navy from 1960-1962 on the USS Forrestal and USS Shangri La. After serving in the Navy, Don began working for Northwestern Bell where he met his wife of 52 years, Judy Hoffman. They were married on July 20, 1963 and completed their family when they adopted their children, Julie and Dan. In 1974 they moved from the Twin Cities to Luck where they have lived ever since. Don continued to commute to the Twin Cities until his retirement from the telephone company in 1992.
Don was hard working and took great pride in completing projects the right way. He enjoyed making everything old new again by refinishing furniture and repurposing items into useable and unique items. He loved his dogs as though they were his children. His sense of humor, Donald Duck impressions, and mischievous side will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents, Elmer and Ina Munson; in-laws, Margaret and Fred Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Doris Steffen, Bev Connelly, Diane Westmoreland; nieces, Carol Nelson and Tracy Munson; and nephew, Brian Westberg.
Don is survived by his daughter, Julie Hagen (Mark); son, Dan Munson (Laura); granddaughters, Sydney and Shelbey Hagen; sister, Carolyn Westberg (Don); brother, Jim Munson (Lynn); sister-in-law, Kathy McKenzie (Jim); brother-in-law, Richard Hoffman (Diane); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Rowe Funeral Home in Luck on Saturday, November 5th – visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Thompson officiating. Organist will be Margie Nelson.
