Obituary for Doris Eveline Lindquist
Doris Eveline Lindquist, 95, resident of Frederic, WI passed away April 15, 2013 at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria, WI.
Doris was born near West Sweden Township, WI on January 14, 1918. Her parents were August W. Martin (Bjorkman) and Alvina Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in West Sweden. She attended grade school in West Sweden and graduated from Frederic High School in 1936.
Doris worked in Minneapolis for a time. She attended the Lutheran Bible Institute, graduating in 1947.
She was married to Wilfred H. Lindquist on February 20, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis for a time and then moved to Cogswell, N.D. where Wilfred served as a pastor. They then moved to Scranton, Iowa. In 1960 Doris and Wilfred spent two months in Frankfurt, Germany where they adopted their daughter, Lois.
During these years, they spent time in Iowa and Nebraska before returning to Frederic in 1980.
For many years Doris did hospital and nursing home work in Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Doris enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, reading and cooking.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four brothers, Joe, Floyd, Alex and George. She is survived by her daughter, Lois; two sisters-in-law, Edna Martin and Margaret Mundfrom; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Frederic on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Jody Walter will be officiating. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband, Wilfred at West Sweden Cemetery following the service.
