Obituary for Doris Ronningen
Doris Ronningen died Sept 17, 2006, at the Comforts of Home, Frederic. She was 90 years old. Doris was born Agatha May Kirby to Zebulon Pike Kirby and Susie Dupey on March 20, 1916, in Ironton, Minn. She was adopted as Doris Ruth Hegert by Ruth Rose and William F. Hegert. She worked as a waitress and clerk in St. Paul, Minn., where she met Albert James Ronningen. They were married on June 18, 1939. They made their home in St. Paul, Minn., and moved to Frederic in 1947. They lived in the Frederic area for 56 years. They adopted two children. Doris was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 249 Auxiliary, Frederic Hospital Auxiliary, the West Sweden Homemakers (the "Dropouts"), the Thimble Bees, Fredric Women’s Club, and a social member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Albert; brothers Stuart Kirby and Robert Boyle; and daughter Mary Ann Hess. She is survived by her brothers, Bill Hegert of Red Wing, Minn., and Frank Hock, Butte, Minn.; son, Robert Ronningen of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren, Heather Ford of Rockridge, Ohio and Joshua Hess of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; many special nephews and nieces; and many longtime friends. Services were held at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Frederic on Wednesday, September 20, with Pastor Arveda Kirk presiding. Interment was at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frederic.
