Obituary for Gerald P. Laqua

Gerald (Jerry) P. Laqua of Frederic, WI passed away peacefully at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN on Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 with his family at his bed side.

Jerry was born April 2, 1936, in St. Paul, MN to Francis and Marie Laqua. He graduated from Washington High school. Jerry served in the Navy and then transferred to the Army where he was Honorably discharged in June of 1956. He worked at McMillian mfg. for 30+ years. He was president of the Frederic school board, volunteer firefighter, and treasurer of the Lions club of Siren. When he wasnt busy playing with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jerry enjoyed golfing, spending time in the work shop, being in the woods, and mowing his lawn.

On September 24th, 1960, he married Marlene Seracki.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene of 55 years; children, Laurie (Reed) Stevens, Cheryl Hawkins, Mike (Lori) Laqua, Mark (Lisa) Laqua, Joan (Nick) Guzzo, and Jeff Laqua; 13 grandchildren, Sara, Heather, Kayla, Corey, Krysta, Crysta, Mitchell, Danielle, Taylor, Jenna, Cullen, Elli and Kali; and great-grandchildren, Carsen, Stella, Kylie, Ayana.

A memorial service will be held at St. Dominics Catholic Church in Frederic, WI on Tuesday December 1st, 2015. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by service at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tom Thakadipuram officiating. A light lunch will be served immediately after.

Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons, Corey Laqua, Mitchell Laqua, Taylor Hawkins, and Cullen Guzzo.
