Obituary for Gustof F. Peterson
Gustof Fritzof Peterson died October 29, 2007, at Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg, WI. He was 86 years old. He was born November 4, 1920, in Trade Lake, WI, the son of Fred and Edla Peterson. He attended the Trade Lake No. 3 School; and was baptized and confirmed at the Trade Lake Zion Lutheran Church. He farmed with his father on the home place until 1949 – then he and his aunt, Ellen Peterson, moved to her farm and farmed there until 1976. On December 20, 1969, he married Carol Lundeen Krueger. In 1976 he retired and moved from the farm. Failing health forced him to then move to Continuous Care Center in Grantsburg, WI, in 2004. Gustof enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, numerous trips to Sweden, and fall cattle drives from summer pasture back to the home pasture while he farmed. He also enjoyed taking movies and slides of family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Moritz; his wife, Carol; and 1 niece, Nancy Carlson. He is survived by 3 sisters, Agnes (Harold) Larson of Minneapolis, MN, Edith Engelhart of Grantsburg, WI, and Ruth (Lester) Johnson of Grantsburg, WI; stepson, Kevin Krueger; 4 nieces; 3 nephews; 9 great nieces, 7 great nephews; Craig (Nancy) Lundeen – his special caregivers; and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, November 2, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in Trade Lake with Rev. David Almlie officiating. Music was provided by organist, Shirley Ganter and soloist, Elna Doornink. Pallbearers were Leonard Johnson, Maurice Johnson, Kenneth Wicklund, Gilbert Meyer, Darryl Doornink and Craig Lundeen. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Trade Lake. Rowe Funeral Home of Frederic, WI, was entrusted with arrangements.
