Obituary for Harriet R. Gerber
Harriet (Erickson) Gerber was born on April 13, 1913 to Arthur and Mary Erickson on a farm between Atlas and Grantsburg Wisconsin. She went to grade school through the eighth grade in Laketown Township and attended Grantsburg High School. She married Karl Gerber on April 18, 1936. They moved to Richfield, MN to work. Harriet worked for American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company for 25 years. She joined the Grace Baptist Church in Minneapolis and was a member there since 1940. Harriet lived in Richfield for 65 years before moving to the United Pioneer Home of Luck in 2009. Harriet was known for her handwritten letters. She had a contagious laugh and a twinkle in her eyes when she smiled.
Harriet left this world to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck. She was 102 years old. She was a woman of faith and she lived that every day of her life. She was a kind and generous person, always saying the right things to her family when they needed uplifting and also to the staff at the Nursing Home, whom she loved dearly. Harriet touched so many lives through her life, she will be missed by so many!
Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Karl; her parents; her brother, Rex Erickson; two infant sisters; sisters-in-law, Arlene Erickson Kakac, Dorothy Holmstrom and Della Olson; and brother-in-law, Ed Holmstrom.
She is survived by her nephews, Barry (Deanna) Erickson, Randy (Donna) Erickson, Steve (Pam) Holmstrom, Harold (Carol) Holmstrom, Boyd (Janine) Olson; nieces, Jill (Todd) Route, Phyllis (Al) Borofka, Leilani (Gary) Hall, Lori Smith; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, one great-great-great-niece; and many friends, especially Cheryl Eckerholm and Kenneth Kakac.
Funeral services will be held at Trade Lake Baptist Church (20750 County Road Z, Frederic, WI) on Thursday, May 28th visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. Pastor Leo Reck will be officiating, soloist will be Rex Erickson, and pianist is Sara Route.
Harriet will be laid to rest next to her husband, Karl at Union Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Randy Erickson, Todd Route, Harold Holmstrom, Steve Holmstrom, Gary Hall and Rex Erickson. Honorary Pallbearers are Boyd Olson, Barry Erickson and Al Borofka.
