Irene Mae Chasensky, 93, of Frederic, WI passed away August 22, 2018 at Frederic Nursing and Rehab. She suffered from dementia for a few years.
Irene was born May 15, 1925 at the old Frederic Hospital to Alfred and Jennie Taylor. She went to school for 12 years at the big white school once located across from the Methodist Church in Frederic. Irene has never lived more than 11 miles from Frederic.
On November 2, 1943 Irene married Joseph (Joe) Chasensky and to this union four children were born, Cheryl, Carol, Gary and Karen. Irene was 20 years younger than Joe. The two farmed 120 acres in Trade Lake until they moved into Frederic in 1970. Using her nurses aid training, Irene worked for 10 1/2 years at Shady Knoll in Grantsburg and was in the Homemakers Social Club and Good Cheer Club. When they retired from farming, Joe who played the accordion and Irene who played chords on the guitar started taking their music to nursing homes in the area. Irene loved gardening, baking, quilting, making homemade ice cream and spending time with her family and friends. She started out making and decorating a lamb cake for her own childrens' birthdays and continued making them for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until 2014 when she went into the nursing home. She was also secretary of the Frederic Senior Citizen Center for years.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold; husband, Joseph; daughter, Carol; and son-in-law, Darrel Osberg.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Osberg; son, Gary Chasensky; daughter, Karen (Rick) Fisher; son-in-law, Donald Ihlenfeldt; 10 grandchildren, Laurie (Joel) Loehr, Ricky (Nancy) Fisher, Shaun (Alysia) Fisher, Jason (Jennie) Osberg, Mike Osberg, Sarah Osberg, Joel (Marilyn) Ihlenfeldt, Jeramy Chasensky, Adam Chasensky, Derek Chasensky; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic on Friday, August 31st - visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Frederic Senior Center.
