Obituary for Irene Marie Jorgensen
Irene Marie Jorgensen, age 91, passed away peacefully at the Luck Pioneer Home Friday, May 18. Born in Luck in 1920 to Martin and Anna Larson, she was baptized and confirmed at Luck Lutheran Church and in 1938 graduated from Luck High School. She will be remembered as a loving Christian mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene served in many capacities at St. Peter's Lutheran Church as Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher, Church council member and as an active member of the Women of the Church. She also belonged to the Pioneer Home Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader. While Irene spent most of her life raising five children alone after her husband passed away in 1956, she also worked at the Pioneer Home for over twenty-five years.
Irene is survived by four of her children: David R. Jorgensen (Donna) of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara A. Jorgensen of Luck, WI, Dennis L. Jorgensen of Luck, WI, Faye M. Kamrath (Jeff) of Excelsior, MN, and a daughter-in-law, Karen A. Jorgensen of Eau Claire, WI. She is further survived by four grandchildren: John D. Jorgensen and Susan R. Jorgensen Flores (Luis) of Minneapolis, MN, Matthew A. Jorgensen (Katie) of Neillsville, WI, and Trisha L. Yates (Matthew) of Eau Claire, WI, as well two step-grandchildren, Lyndee and William “Buddy" Kamrath. Irene is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Marie, Mark, Zachary, Jacob, Luis, Jhoseline, Daniel, and Catherine.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents (Martin and Anna Larson), her husband (Melvin A. Jorgensen), five brothers (Lloyd, Bud, Ray, Earl, and Bert Larson), and a son (Mark A. Jorgensen).
We would like to thank the staff of the Luck Pioneer Home for their great attention to Irene’s care and thoughtfulness.
