Obituary for Jean A. Coen
Jean A. Coen, 61, beloved wife, lover, mother, grandmother, and friend of Frederic, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota with her loving family at her side. Jean was born February 18, 1954 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Herbert and Melba Niska. She was raised in Mountain Iron, Minnesota and attended Mountain Iron High School, graduating in 1972. She continued on to college to earn her LPN degree in 1973. In 1975, Jean married Jack Biondich. While they were united, they had three daughters: Adrienne, Allison, and Michelle.
On December 12, 1988 she was united in marriage to her soulmate, Dale Coen of Frederic, Wisconsin. Together they had one son, Arthur "Bud". Jean and Dale enjoyed watercross racing and quality time at their cabin in Orr, Minnesota. Jean delighted in cooking, baking, gardening, crafts, and going to Minnesota Wild hockey games. Her greatest joy was spending her time with her children. Left to celebrate her life and memory are her husband, Dale Coen; five children, Adrienne Russo of Ramsey, Minnesota, Allison Biondich of Frederic, Wisconsin, Michelle (Brandon) Schrunk of Plover, Wisconsin, Arthur "Bud" Coen (Ali Knutson) of Frederic, Wisconsin and Nick (Angela) Coen of Madison, Wisconsin; mother, Melba Niska of Virginia, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Reagan Schrunk, Logan Lajoie and Aria Coen; and eight brothers and four sisters. Jean is preceded in death by her father, Herbert; sister, Judy; and in-laws, Mark and Rose Coen. Jean was a wonderful person with a very warm, generous, and caring heart. She will be so deeply missed by her husband of 26 years, family, friends, and by all those whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29th, 2015 at Rowe Funeral Home, 101 Cedar Street, Frederic, Wisconsin from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30th at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 Linden St. W. in Frederic. Visitation at church will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Arveda "Freddie" Kirk officiating.
