Obituary for Jerome "Jerry" D. Wonka
Jerome D. Wonka, born December 24, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Ruth Wonka, passed away peacefully at the Grantsburg Nursing Home on Saturday, March 8, 2014.


Jerry grew up on a farm in Georgetown Township of Milltown, WI, and graduated from Unity High School.  He worked at the Ford Company in the Cities.  He then went into the Army where he was in Germany driving for a Five Star General.  When he returned home he was a police officer and fireman in Milltown, a carpenter and electrician.  On June 22, 1988 he married his wife, Lynn.  They lived in Luck, WI for over 25 years.


Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Frank; mother, Ruth; brother, Georgie; son, Jeffery; and nephew, David.


Left to celebrate his life are wife, Lynn; son, Jon (Amy) Lindberg; daughter, Diana (John) Martinson; grandchildren, Michelle, Matt, Mitchel, Trenton, Zac, Samantha, Noah and Tyler; great-granddaughter, Lexie; brother, Jim (Sue) Wonka; sisters, Judy (Bill) Schnur, Janis (Dale) Federer; and many nieces and nephews.


Jerry was a proud member of American Legion Post 254, Milltown, WI.  He was part of the Color Guard carrying the American Flag for Memorial Day, Fisherman’s Party, and many funerals.  He was proud to have served his country.


Visitation will be held at the Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, WI on Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 7:00 p.m.  Private family interment will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
