Obituary for Jessie Nordquist
Jessie Booth Nielsen Nordquist, 97 years old, passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Jessie was born to Nellie Hermaine and George Albert Booth at St. Croix Hospital. She grew up in St. Croix Falls, WI, Taylors Falls, MN, and Chippewa Falls, WI. She graduated from St. Croix Falls High School. At a young age she worked in Chicago, IL, as a nanny and at the Chinese Lantern in Duluth as a waitress. She lived most of her life in Luck, WI, and worked as a nurse's aide at the United Pioneer Home. However, she escaped the long Wisconsin winters for 10 years when she lived in Youngtown and Chino Valley, Arizona.
Jessie was very talented in sewing along with crocheting. She enjoyed gardening/tending to her flowers, she loved to dance, have fun, play cards, "shoot the breeze," cooking, hosting holiday meals and baking - she was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. Most of all mom/grandma/great-grandma Jessie loved to be with family.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Dale Booth, George Booth and Harry Booth along with her sisters, Henrietta Dallquist, Vivian Holmquist and Nancy Deason.
She is survived by her brother, LeRoy Booth of St. Croix Falls, WI; sister, Francis Weller of Taylors Falls, MN; children, Sandra (Larry) Fagerberg of Shoreview, MN, and Dennis (Colleen) Nielsen of Red Wing, MN. She is the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and survived by many special family members.
We want to send a special "thank you" to the staff at the Good Samaritan Care Center in St. Croix Falls and St. Croix Hospice for the loving and wonderful care they gave her. She was definitely a "spark plug" and loved you all!
Memorial Services will be held at Luck Lutheran Church, Luck, WI, on Friday, June 16th – visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Julie Brenden will be officiating.
