Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Kadrmas
Joseph "Joe" Kadrmas was born March 31, 1928 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Joseph and Kristina (Kubik) Kadrmas. He grew up on the family farm and attended school through the eighth grade. In 1945, he served with the USCG Merchant Marines. On October 3, 1946-March 22, 1948, he served in the army with the Service Company, 42nd, Construction Engineer Battalion, at Yong Dung Po, Korea. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. After returning home, he attended the State School of Science in Whapeton, ND, for welding. He spent many years welding, job related, as well as for family.
On June 10, 1950, he married Donna Lavonne McQuay in Lisbon, ND. The family lived mainly in Dickinson, ND, until a final move in 1962 to St. Croix Falls, WI.
He worked many different jobs, including farming, school bus driver, mechanic, and at Bryan Trap Rock. He was always creating ways to fix things, change things, or create new things that would work for whatever people needed. If you needed it, he could make it!
Going to horse races was always fun for the family. He and Donna also loved to dance, and he loved to teach his children and grandchildren to dance. We all have memories of waiting in line to dance with him! After retirement, he enjoyed some fishing, camping, and cheering on the Packers! He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were so special to him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Donna, and their six children: Kandace (David) Nyberg of Hudson, WI; Gregory (special friend, Tammy Harrison) Kadrmas of St. Croix Falls, WI; Robyn (Duane) Meixner of Lake City, MN; Jayson (Jodi) Kadrmas of Three Forks, MT; Lisa Kadrmas of Seattle, WA; and Chad Kadrmas of St. Croix Falls, WI. Grandchildren: Kourtney, Kelsey; Gregory; Jesse, Ryan, Brandon; Dylan, Tiana, Braidi, Javen; Zander and the wonderful great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Justin, Jennifer, Adam, Lexi, and Caleb. Also survived by sister, Alyce Herauf of Dickinson, ND; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Bessie Pavlicek and Lillian Leiss, four brothers: Vince Barta, Ludwig Kadrmas, Robert Kadrmas, and Hank Kadrmas, many other family and friends.
