Obituary for Kurt R. Hedlund
Kurt Robert Hedlund, age 59, passed away unexpectedly at his home June 7, 2022.
Kurt was born in Santa Maria, California, Sept 29, 1962, to Robert Philip Hedlund and Shirley Jean (Edwards) Hedlund. Kurt grew up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and graduated from Coon Rapids High School.
While growing up, he spent many summers at his parents’ island cabin on Lake Vermilion, spending his days fishing and learning to sail boats. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, sailing and gardening. He loved to tease children, making them laugh, or ponder what he was saying.
In the 1980s he spent many weekends at Spirit Lake Campground, Frederic, Wisconsin, where he met Mary Bohn, and they were married Dec. 27, 1988. To this union were born sons Aaron Phillip and Kyle Robert Hedlund.
Kurt had many occupations over the years. He was manager for Ingersoll Rand air tool and hydraulic repairs, Bohn Fur Farm, Oeffler Flower Shop greenhouse and landscaping. He worked for several building construction companies, foreman for Osmose Utilities, and retail sales, Jenneman’s Hardware Hank.
Kurt was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley; nephew, Daniel Hedlund; and father-in-law, Dennis Bohn.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Aaron and Kyle; grandchildren, Xzavier and Hunter Hedlund, and Ivory Kohl-Hess; father, Robert; sisters, Linda (James) Miller and Jennifer (James) Daugherty; mother-in-law, Carol Bohn; and many extended relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the 300 Club, 413 Wisconsin Ave., Frederic, Wisconsin, on Sunday, July 10, 2022, 1-4 p.m.
