Obituary for Larry L. Tretsven
Larry Lee (Toby) Tretsven of Siren, WI died on July 14, 2016 at the Journey of Life Family Home in Balsam Lake, WI surrounded by family and close friends after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Larry was born on May 5, 1948 to Kenneth and Vierlyn (Harder) Tretsven in Frederic, WI. He lived and worked on the family farm in rural St. Croix Falls. He attended St. Croix Falls schools, where he lettered in football. He graduated and then went to work in the Twin Cities for a short period of time. He then went to work for Gordy Gibbs doing carpenter and cement work for many years. He then started a business of his own selling, installing and servicing Patz barn equipment. He also worked for many farmers doing chores when they wanted a weekend off or a vacation. He was always willing to help anybody who needed a hand.

In 1970 he married Cindy Baker in St. Croix Falls. They lived in the Wolf Creek and Cushing area for many years. After this marriage ended, Larry then moved to Milltown and eventually moved to rural Siren where he lived until his death.

Larry loved the great outdoors, he was an avid hunter and awesome fisherman. He loved working in the woods and any type of outdoor activity. In the early 1970's, he helped organize a rope pulling team sponsored by the Glass Bar in Centuria, WI. This team went undefeated for 2 years and eventually went to the World Championships at Midway Stadium in St. Paul, MN where the team won second place defeating teams from all over.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother and father, Vierlyn and Kenneth; and brother, Jim. He was also preceded in death by his last love in his life, Jeannie Barstow whom he cared for in their home before she also died from cancer.

Larry is lovingly survived by sons, Chris (Christina) Lawrence of Elk Mound, WI, Sean (Tammy) Tretsven of Frederic, WI, Shannon (Samantha) Tretsven of St. Croix Falls, WI, and Shane (Ashley) Tretsven of Houston, TX; brother, Bill (Nancy) Tretsven of St. Croix Falls; sisters, Linda Chinander of Barron, WI, and Judy (Steve) Parker of Frederic. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren whom he loved so much and many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Having loved the outdoors so much, the family thought that it's only fitting to have a Celebration of Life be held outdoors at the Pine Park in Balsam Lake, WI on Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. A time of fellowship and picnic will be held at the Pine Park following the services which will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Miller. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Celebration of Life.

Honorary Pallbearers will be close friends, Sam Owen Sr., Jack Weber, Jerry Nutter, Robert Fenton, Ray Wiemer, Jay Cummings, Wes Mattson and Doug Anderson. A private family burial will be held later in St. Croix Falls where he will be laid to rest alongside his beloved parents.

You are invited to sign the online guestbook to leave memories and photos. Arrangements are entrusted to the Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, www.rowefh.com , 715-472-2444 and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown, www.wicremationcenter.com , 715-825-5550.
