Leroy John Sauerbrey, 91, died February 8, 2018 at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. Leroy resided for the last 8 months at Frederic Nursing and Rehab in Frederic, WI.
He was born May 14, 1926 in Chokio, Minnesota; baptized July 11, 1926 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Chokio, MN; and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kingsdale, MN September 1, 1940.
He graduated from eighth grade at Stevens School in Douglas County, WI. He then went to work for Kindbloms in Dairyland hauling milk and cutting pulp wood. Later he went to the Twin Cities for a while working at Armours Meat Packing Plant, then returned to Wisconsin and started working first as a hired man on a farm in 1950 and then bought the farm. He milked cows and did custom field work.
He later worked for Gjonnes Construction and Frederic Farmers Union and then Frederic Farmers Coop Exchange along with farming.
He was on a bowling team for Young & Nielsen for years and was a very active Lions Club member.
He served 23 years on the Frederic Board of Directors for the Frederic Fire Department and several years on Burnett County Zoning Board Administration.
He enjoyed deer, elk and pheasant hunting and fishing. He had some nice trips out west hunting and to Canada fishing, along with trips to Las Vegas, Reno, Florida and a Caribbean Cruise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Sauerbrey; brothers, Harold and Robert Sauerbrey; sisters, Agnes Zillmer, Lois Hughes, Helen Matthews, and Joyce Kingbeil; half-brothers and sisters, Irene Bielke, Dorothy Pedersen, Delores Miller, Fritz, Jim and John Sauerbrey, and George Steinberger.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; step-son, Brent (Rocky) Aggerholm; step-grandson, Josh (Michelle) Stone; step-great-grandsons, Cordell, Curtis and Caleb Stone; brothers, Bill, Marvin (Mary), Orville (Elaine) Sauerbrey; sisters, MaryAnn (Dean) Loucks, Martha (George) Hauer, Ruth Tibbs, Linda (Jim) Grinnell; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Frederic on Tuesday, February 13th - visitation at church will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Leroy will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery following the service.
