Obituary for Lester H. Bergstrom
Lester H. Bergstrom, 82, of Frederic, WI passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck.
Lester was born October 2, 1932 to Theodore and Grace Bergstrom of Range, WI. He graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1951. He was very active in 4-H and was a state officer in F.F.A.
After graduating he farmed on the home place. In 1956 he married Virginia Annett of Frederic. In 1957 they bought a farm west of Frederic. From this union four daughters were born, Debra, Rebecca, Sharon and Mary Lynn.
He worked for Carol Peterson sawing lumber and later he bought his own mill and sawed for Penta of Siren. In the 1960's he volunteered time and resources to Wood Lake Baptist Camp. In the early 1970's Lester started driving semi for Red Owl Stores. He bought a second semi and trained two local young men. A few years prior to retirement he trucked for Silverstone Transport out of Frederic.
Lester was very generous, patient, friendly and kind. He loved skiing at Hide Away Hills, Trollhaugen Ski Area and out West. His grandchildren brought great joy to his life as well.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Debra Bergstrom, Sharon (Chuck) Miller, Mary Lynn (Anthony) Potempa; grandchildren, Andy, Derek, Kristi, Michelle and Nathan; two sisters, Violet Wright and Mabel (Dahle) Jenssen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rebecca; and three brothers, Ted, Floyd and Lyn.
Visitation will be held at the Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic on Friday, December 19th from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services celebrating Lester's life and homecoming will be held at the Trade Lake Baptist Church, Frederic, WI on Saturday, December 20th - visitation at church will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Rev. David Prince will be officiating.
Lester will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be three grandsons, Andy Bayle, Derek Rasmussen, Nathan Potempa and his nephews, Danny Bergstrom, Russel Engstrom and Steve Jenssen.
The family extends a special "thank you" to the staff of the United Pioneer Home in Luck for their care and support.
