Obituary for Luann D. Ackerley
Luann Doris Ackerley (Hunter), 54, of Frederic, WI, passed away on June 6, 2013.

Luann was born in Monroe, Washington to Elmer and Earlene Hunter (Brown) on August 22, 1958. She was married to Terry Otto earlier in her life, and had two children, Trevor and Tracey. Later, she married Gary Ackerley and had two children, Dana and Benjamin. Gary and Luann were married for 28 blissful years.

Luann was the most loving and caring person, who was always willing to help anyone at anytime, and never wanted anything else in return but love. She gave herself, not only to her husband and children, but to others. She selflessly took care of her mother, Earlene, whom she adored and considered her best friend. She was devoted to God, her family and her friends.

Luann was involved in her community by creating a Coat Drive that helped keep hundreds of children and adults warm each winter. She was involved in her kids’ sports, always cheering on the sidelines, or helping with fundraisers. Luann was also a successful business woman, who was proud of her work, was the best in the business, and was known as a finisher extraordinaire. She loved nature, being outdoors and had the most beautiful flower gardens. She was a fisher-woman, and on more than one occasion, out-fished her husband. She enjoyed spending weekends at the lake house, garage sailing with her Mom and being with her family.

Luann began traveling later in her life by getting over her fear of flying so she could visit her daughters in Texas and California. One of her greatest memories was dipping her toes into the Pacific ocean; a dream she had since childhood. She was the best “Grandma up the hill” and “Grandmom”. Luann will forever stay in the hearts of those whom she touched. Her unending affection and love not only made her the beautiful woman she was, but also shaped all who were blessed to have known her.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Trevor (Heather) Otto, Tracey (Colby) Westerburg, Dana (Aaron) Backlin, Benjamin Ackerley; 5 grandchildren, Olivia Westerburg, Cameron Westerburg, Grace Otto, Isaiah Otto, Earlene Otto; brothers and sisters, Carol Coen, Donna Lehman, Duane (Kay) Hochstetler, Larry Hochstetler, Michael Hunter, Elton Hunter, Lisa (Verlin) Hunter; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Earlene Hunter (Brown) and sisters, Karen Coen and Barbara Hackert.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 with a service following at 11 a.m. at the Siren Assembly of God Church, located at 23811 State Rd 35, Siren, WI 54872.
