Marvel graduated with the Class of 1956 in Frederic. After graduation, she went to live in Los Angeles. It was here she started her employment with American Hardware Mutual Insurance Co. In 1957 she transferred to the office in Minneapolis until retiring in 2001. She had many jobs within the company, but her favorite was working in the company credit union. This gave her an opportunity to meet all the employees and making lasting friendships.
Marvel had many interests. She loved sports and would be very happy the Twins are in the playoffs this year. She was a strong Vikings fan, always hoping this would be the year for a Super Bowl win.
Marvel loved music! She loved musical theatre, concerts, gospel and a good polka band. She loved the old musical movies.
Marvel loved her retirement years. She volunteered her time at the Care Center every week, helped at Family Pathways, and drove for Polk County.
Retirement gave her an opportunity to travel. Marvel and Myrna had several bus trips to various places in the country, seeing new things and meeting new people.
Marvel enjoyed her life even dealing with health issues. She was a 26 year survivor of kidney cancer. She didn't complain and accepted what life gave to her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Birger Beckman; mother, Edna Beckman Williams; and her step-father, Lenard (Cy) Williams; and other relatives.
