Obituary for Maxine E. Callaway
Maxine Elaine (Silbaugh) Callaway of Frederic, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016. She was born July 17, 1921 to John and Susie Silbaugh at La Farge, WI. She graduated from La Farge High School in 1938. She married Donald "Babe" Callaway on July 26, 1938. To this union three children were born, Elaine, Buzz and Bea.
Maxine had several jobs in Chicago, Minneapolis, West Sweden and Frederic. In April, 1956 the family moved to the West Sweden Store. She ran the store for eight years. They she worked at the Frederic Hospital and the Coast-to-Coast store.
Maxine became a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church where she was active in UMW, taught Bible study, and was on many committees.
Her hobbies were gardening, raising flowers and camping.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Buzz; both parents and her in-laws; and three sisters, Dorothy, Helen and Lena and their husbands.
Her survivors are her daughters and their husbands, Elaine (Marlyn) Wedin of Grantsburg, Beatrice (Michael) Nelson of Dresser; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Frederic on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Arveda "Freddie" Kirk officiating. Her family will greet visitors at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Maxine will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery next to her husband, Donald following lunch. Pallbearers will be David Callaway, Vance Wedin, Jeff Abrahamson, Rick Thompson, Dennis Chell and Andrew Schlosser. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeanine Chell, Barbara Thompson, Debbie Schlosser, Linnet Jensen, Arlen Jensen, Becky Wedin and Tracy Abrahamson.
