Mellissa K. Casey of Luck, WI, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, June 12th, 2021.
Mellissa was born in Frederic, WI, on June 11th, 1971 to Kenneth and Brenda Hochstetler.
Mellissa met and married her first husband shortly after high school, they were blessed with two children, one of whom passed away just days after his birth. Mellissa met her second husband, Joe through a phone dating line service. They were married on October 16th, 1997 and her family grew even bigger by four step-children. Mellissa lived in Iowa for many years where she made many special friends, she then moved back to Wisconsin following the passing of her sister, Becky.
Mellissa had several jobs in her short time on this earth, but she found her calling when she became a Certified Nursing Assistant for over twenty years. She worked at Capeside Cove in Siren, Evans Memorial Home in Iowa, and United Pioneer Home in Luck. She cherished the many friends and residents she made over the years, it brought her so much joy to see the smiles on their faces and give them as much love and attention her heart would allow. Mellissa knew her calling was caring for those who could no longer care for themselves. After many years of Aid work she decided to accept the position as Activity Assistant with United Pioneer Home, she knew that this was the career she was meant to have, it gave her the opportunity to truly get to know and form special bonds with the residents. One-on-one time was her favorite, whether it was taking them for walks outside, painting the ladies’ nails, or small talk and beverages on the patio. Mellissa not only loved residents but their families as well.
Mellissa loved family time, she was the first one to try and plan something for each major holiday or birthday. Bonfires in the backyard at mom's was something she loved to do when given the chance, talking, laughing, eating and taking many photos. She always told us, "It does not matter what we do, as long as we are together as a family."
Mellissa enjoyed many things, like tending to her plethora of flowers and plants. She loved shopping trips, you could often hear her singing out loud to the music that was playing in the store. She loved music as well, with her two favorites being Ozzy Osbourne and Fleetwood Mac. She loved clothes and all her outfits had to be matching from her headbands down to her shoes. Mellissa was also a mom to six fur babies who she loved and adored, Chica, Bear, Dixie, Daisy, Ella and Dilly.
To know Missie was to love her!
