Obituary for Minnie E. Grimh
Minnie Elaine Grimh, 91, passed away on May 5th, 2017 at the Frederic Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Frederic, WI. She was born in South Range, Wisconsin, to parents, Gustav and Emma Turnquist on April 8, 1926. She attended Oakland grade school in South Range through eighth grade. She then went to stay with her uncle and aunt in Duluth and graduated from Denfield High School in Duluth. After graduation, she became a nanny for four wonderful young girls while she attended Bethel University in St. Paul attaining a Bible Degree. During her time at Bethel, she spent a summer working with the underprivileged in Kentucky. She also took nurses training and worked as a CNA at Midway Hospital. Minnie enjoyed working as a nurses aide and helping people. Through this experience, she made many lifetime friends.
After completing her schooling, Minnie married Marvin Grimh on April 17, 1954. They made their home on a farm south of Frederic where they had three children. Minnie continued working as a Nurses Aide at the Frederic Nursing Home and then at the Frederic Hospital until she retired.
After retirement, she moved into Frederic to live next to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren which she adored. Later she moved into the Sunrise Apartments where she made many friends and enjoyed the view of Coon Lake and all the wildlife it offered.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; brothers, Henry and Albert Turnquist; sisters, Alice Johnson and Elise Turnquist; and son, Doug Grimh.
Minnie is survived by sister, Marie Vincent of Hawthorne, WI; daughter, Rebecca (Brad) Harlander of Frederic; son, Rollie Grimh of Frederic; and grandchildren, Dawn of Frederic, David of St. Cloud, MN, Alex of Roseville, MN, and Lara (Hunter) Dodds of Frederic; as well as numerous nieces and a nephew.
Minnie will always be remembered for her love of life enjoying being with her family and friends. She loved gardening, baking, fishing, knitting, playing scrabble, and watching her Packers, Timberwolves and Brewers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25th, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic. A Memorial Service will be held at the gardens on the north side of Coon Lake on Friday, May 26th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Frederic Village Parks.
