Obituary for Myrtis Corrine Green
Myrtis Corrine Johnson was born July 25, 1925 on the family farm outside of Milltown. She was the second of four children born to Edwin and Reake(Francis) Johnson. She was affectionately known as Myrt, MG or to her grandchildren Grammie. Myrtis was very talented and passionate about many things. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She competed as a soloist in high school and sang for many weddings and funerals in the early years. Her daughters definitely wished they had her singing talent. She was also very artistic and had the fabulous ability to draw portraits of famous Hollywood actresses from the forties and Fifties. She also loved photography, growing irises and antique dolls. She enjoyed a life-long passion for literature and it would be rare to not see a book on the table next to her favorite chair. After high school she was married to Wally Quist. They were blessed with five Children; Steven, Linda, Dona, Kathleen and Barbara. Later in life she married Clarence Green. Together they raised her blind granddaughter, Erin Anderson. They insured that Erin had many fulfilling opportunities such as Loin's camp for the blind every summer and frequent trips to Crex Meadows. Myrtis had many different jobs throughout her adult life. She gravitated to jobs in healthcare. She started as a nurse's aide taking care of patients to working in the ER. Between the many people she cared for, the fellow doctors and nurses she worked with, Myrtis was a well-respected and cherished college as well as a loyal friend to many people. Myrtis spent her last years living at Traditions of Frederic's assisted living. She remained fiercely independent while there. The staff and residents loved listening to her stories. She passed away peacefully at Traditions on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She is survived by her children; Steven (Joyce) Quist, Dona (Terry) Lundmark, Kathleen (Calvin) Wehking, Barbara Quist (Tony Davis), special granddaughter, Erin Anderson, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husbands, her daughter, Linda and great grandson, Ryan. A memorial and life celebration are planned for this summer.
