Nancy Jean Wikstrom Schiller, 53 of Woodbury, MN passed away Friday, July 13th in Rochester, MN with her family and friends by her side. Nancy courageously battled breast cancer for the past two years and was being treated at the Mayo Clinic when she passed away.
Nancy was born October 7, 1964 in Frederic, WI to Jim and Flo Wikstrom. She graduated in 1983 from Frederic High School. After High School Nancy attended and graduated from UW-Stout with a degree in Early Childhood and Family Life. She went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Education from Simmons University in Boston, MA and her Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching License from The University of Minnesota.
On June 20, 1997 Nancy married P. Daniel Schiller and to this union two sons were born, P. Samuel (Sam) and McCrossen James (Max). They made their home in Woodbury where she was an active mother, teacher and member of the community.
Nancy held many different teaching positions during her career including coaching volleyball and advising a variety of student activities. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her boys grow up and cheering them on at East Ridge sporting and theater events and volunteering whenever she could. Nancy was engaged and passionate about her friends and her boys' friends – making their home and cabin a constant hub of activity. Along with her family and friends, Nancy loved her Green Bay Packers. She will always be remembered as a truly special wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She had an amazing gift of bringing people together.
Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ervin and Leora Wikstrom and Lea and Bea Perry.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; children, Sam and Max; parents, Jim and Flo Wikstrom; brothers, Bruce (DeAnn) and Jon (Jeanne) Wikstrom; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and relatives.
A visitation will be held, Tuesday, July 17th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at O’Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home in Woodbury. Visitation and funeral service will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale, MN on Wednesday, July 18 th at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. respectively.
