Obituary for Raymond R. Jensen

Raymond “Ray” Russell Jensen, 70, passed away at Amery Hospital on May 9, 2021.  After a courageous fight, he left us peacefully with family by his side.

Ray was born March 8, 1951 in Siren, WI to Lynn and Florence Jensen.  Ray married Gail Sorenson on July 1, 1971 in Ironwood, MI.  They had 48 years together until Gail passed in 2019.  They raised their three children together and also helped in “raising” their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He spent most of his life working on the family farm as well as working at the Luck Feed Mill and Cummings Lumber over the years.

He was an avid houndsman who enjoyed chasing coon and bear and was a lifelong deer hunter.  His love of hunting has been passed on to his son, son-in-law and grandsons.  Grandkids meant the world to him and once they were out of diapers, he never missed an opportunity to take them to the feed store for popcorn and ice cream, hit a couple garage sales, or go visiting.  He was good at keeping Gail on her toes never knowing what he might come home with next.  Besides milking cows, Ray loved horses and always had one or more on the farm plus an assortment of other animals for everyone to help take care of such as sheep, goats, chickens, guineas, ducks, geese, turkeys and pigs.

Left to remember and celebrate his life are his children Mande (Nick) Kuechenmeister, Brian (Holly) Jensen, and Jolleen Jensen (Cliff Wenzel); grandchildren Zachary (Jordyn) Kuechenmeister, Christopher Kuechenmeister (Lauryn Newport), Trent and Lucas Kuechenmeister, Ethan and Wyatt Jensen, Jesse Wenzel; great grandchildren Lane, Finnley, and Croix Kuechenmeister; sisters Linda (Marv), Shirley (Tim), June (Daryl), and brother Jimmy; sisters-in-law Ardell, Elaine, and Dixie (Bob); brother-in-law Harlan (Cindy); sister-in-law Joan, along with many special family and friends.  Also left to miss Ray is his faithful dog Ringo who will be well cared for with family.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Gail Jensen, parents Lynn Jensen and Florence Graves (Wesley); sister Sharon, brother Lauritz; mother-in-law Irene, father-in-law Harold, sisters-in-law, Jerry and Delorous, brothers-in-law Marvin, Vern, Les, Emmett, Eldon and Maurie.

In honoring his wishes, there will not be a formal service, but a family gathering will be held at a later date.

You are invited to leave condolences, memories, and photos at www.rowefh.com Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home, (715) 327-4475 and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown, www.wicremationcenter.com
