Obituary for Richard D. Bibeau
Richard (Dick) Bibeau left this world suddenly on March 22, now on his long journey to the dark side of the moon and his great gig in the sky. While we mourn the loss of this dedicated father, brother and family member, teacher, and avid outdoor sportsman, we also celebrate his life, which he lived his way until the very end. Dick was the proud father of three: Craig, Amy and Sue.
Dick was born August 28, 1943 in Stillwater, Minnesota, growing up in Bayport, Minnesota. He spent time fishing and boating on the St. Croix River and hunting whenever he could. At age 15, a fateful hunting accident permanently disfigured his right hand. A 1961 graduate of Stillwater High School, Dick went onto Saint Cloud State University where he pursued his true passion, teaching.
Dick taught high school science for 32 years in Holdingford, Minnesota, subbing later on in Luck, Wisconsin, where he touched the lives of countless students and faculty. Through the St. Cloud Vocational College, Dick trained hundreds of EMTs and First Responders. He also started the Powder Ridge Ski Patrol in Kimball, Minnesota, where he was an active patroller for 37 years teaching first-aid and skiing. In 1998, Dick earned his National appointment #8826. Dick enjoyed duck and deer hunting with his son, and would never turn down a day of fishing with anyone.
Preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and father, Noah, he is survived by his three children; their mother, Gail Bradford; his brother, Tom (Marge and Julie); grandson, Zach Petersen; and his soul mate of many years, Darla Bibeau.
Dick, you will be missed by many, many friends and family. So, shine on you crazy diamond; how we wish you were here.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. A Celebration of Dick's life will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4 to 6:00 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic, Wisconsin, and Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 2 to 6:00 p.m. at a private residence in Ramsey, Minnesota. richardbibeaumemorial@gmail.com
