Obituary for Robert S. Cairns
Robert S. Cairns of Webster, WI, died August 20th, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Robert was 82 years old. Robert was born at home in Sand Lake Township – Webster, WI, to Rob and Annie (Mattson) Cairns on June 18th, 1926. He spent his whole life within a few miles of where he was born. He farmed for many of his young years. Later he worked for Bud Peterson as a mechanic in Webster, cut pulp, worked for the Township of Sand Lake maintaining the roads, worked for the Burnett County Highway Dept., Hopkins Sand and Gravel, and had many side jobs to make ends meet. Robert was forced to retire at age 50 due to health reasons. He was a good mechanic, loved working on tractors and cars, and was a good welder. Robert married Elizabeth Hoss in 1966 in Pine City, MN. Robert has two children by a previous marriage. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Knutson, Mabel Knutson; brother, Floyd Cairns; wife, Elizabeth; and son, Duwayne. He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Vernon) Haaf of Siren; daughter-in-law, Geri Cairns of Webster; grandchildren, Belinda (Steve) McConville of Chisago City, MN, and Geri Jo Cairns of Superior, WI; great grandchildren, Tyler, Sean, and Allison McConville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic, WI, with Rev. Andy McDaniel officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Mary Lou Daeffler and soloist, Terri Stoner. Pallbearers are Harold Larson, Butch Larson, Larry Larson, Bill Cairns, Bobby Cairns, and Jim Shives. Honorary Pallbearers are Russell Leef, Tom Ennis, Keith Crosby and Ken Moser. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21st, from 5-7:00 p.m. also at the Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic. Visitation will again be held on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Webster. Rowe Funeral Home of Frederic, WI, was entrusted with arrangements. For information call 715-327-4475.
