Ruby Elaine Knechtel, 89, of Frederic, Wisconsin passed away peacefully and was received into the arms of our Savior on July 21, 2017 at the Cumberland Care and Rehab.
Ruby was born on February 6, 1928 to Fred and Sadie Wahl and was the 8th of eight children.
In her youth Ruby attended Shady Dell and Mound schools. She also was employed at Brown and Bigelow, in St. Paul, Minnesota, a job she was very proud of. On May 01, 1948 she married Elmer Stanley Knechtel and over the years they raised four children on the family farm. Ruby was a talented woman who loved animals, gardening, baking bread and canning. Ruby also was pleased to teach children Bible School lessons at the Lorain United Methodist Church near Indian Creek, in her teaching she eventually became superintendent of the Sunday School.
Ruby is preceded in death by her mother and father; her seven siblings; brother, John; sisters, Ethel, Lucielle, Alice, Clarice, Erma and Mildred; also her husband, Stanley.
Ruby is survived by sons, Alan (Gary Osterbauer) and Lloyd (Patty) Knechtel; daughters, Jean (Alan) Hoffman and Linda (Joe) Lang; grandchildren, Heather (Trevor) Otto, William Knechtel, Kessia (Leif) Adams and Kyle Koepp; great-grandchildren, Grace, Isaiah and Earlene Otto, Austin, Benjamin and Harrison Adams.
The celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Frederic, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 29th - visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a luncheon at the church and interment at Lorain Cemetery on 40th Street, Frederic (Indian Creek).
