Shirley Lucille Hansen, 90, of Luck, WI passed away peacefully June 18, 2017 at the Frederic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Shirley was born August 23, 1926 in Siren, WI the daughter of Thorvald and Harriet Hansen. Upon graduation from Siren High School, she worked in the Burnett County Draft Board Office.
She married Leonard Charles Hansen, of Luck on October 5, 1946. They resided in St. Croix Falls for 2 years and then made their permanent home in Luck.
Shirley was active at the Luck Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was the manager of Anderson's Variety Store in Luck for many years and always enjoyed getting the toy room ready for Christmas and answering all the Santa letters that children mailed at the store.
She loved knitting and needle crafts and left many friends and family with a legacy of beautiful artistry. She also enjoyed traveling with friends; time spent at their trailer on Diamond Lake; and having coffee and cookies always ready to serve any one who stopped by her house.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lyla Dolan; and her husband, Len Hansen.
She is survived by her son, Lt. Col. Lon Hansen and his wife Kathy; her granddaughter, Kristi (Hansen) Lapointe and her husband Josh; and her great-grand “twins”, Lillian and Oliver LaPointe.
Funeral services will be held at Luck Lutheran Church on Friday, June 23rd – visitation at church will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. The ladies of the church will serve a luncheon in the fellowship hall after the service. Private interment will be held at Lewis Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Frederic Nursing and Rehab Center for all the kind and loving care they showed to Shirley during her stays with them.
