Obituary for Stanley O. Berg
Stanley Oliver Berg was born October 21, 1933 and passed away on July 23, 2014 in the same family farm home in Eureka Township, Milltown, WI. Stanley attended Fairview School, graduated from Milltown High School and was a lifelong member of North Valley Lutheran Church two miles from his home.
On August 12, 1961 he was joined in marriage to Donna Lou Berg in Almelund, MN. They farmed together where Stanley was born, and their dairy farm flourished through the years. They sold their milk to Land OLakes, from whom they received multiple awards for quality over the years. Soil conservation was always an important concern to Stanley to maintain and improve the quality of their farm land. He served on the local farm cooperative board, on the board for PCA (Production Credit Association) and was a past president of the church council at North Valley Lutheran Church. Stanley also had a creative side and he could often be found in his shop welding discarded metal into innovative, functional and attractive pieces for farming or decoration. Woodworking was always a source of enjoyment, and his cabinets and handiwork still grace the homes of his family. Stanley was very proud of his Norwegian heritage, and also enjoyed country music, square dancing, John Deere tractors, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Donna Lou (Berg) Berg; daughter, Julie Dunn (Gregory); granddaughter, Michelle Johnson Schweiss (Mitchell); step-grandchildren, Kelly Skoog (Adam), Tammy Elstad (Matt), Michael Dunn (Christina); step-great-grandchildren, Anna, William and John Skoog, Baby Elstad, Cory, Nathan, Beila and Natalie Dunn; brother-in-law, Tom Rue; sister-in-law, Jean Berg; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and a wealth of friends. Preceded in death by parents, Malvin and Mabel (Steffenson) Berg; sister, Alice (Berg) Rue; and brother-in-law, Glen Berg.
Memorials preferred to North Valley Lutheran Church Building Fund.
