Obituary for Thelma E. Hendricks

Thelma Elnora (Skow) Hendricks, age 96, of Luck, Wisconsin, passed peacefully surrounded by her children on December 8, 2022.

Thelma was born to Peter Christian and Meta Martine (Johansen) Skow on May 30, 1926, in Luck, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed at the St Peter’s Lutheran Church in North Luck.

Thelma was a strong and determined woman who graduated from Luck High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Grant Robert Hendricks on August 25, 1947. To this marriage six children were born.

With a strong love of life and for her family and friends, she worked alongside Grant on their Grade A dairy farm. In their 52 years of marriage, Grant and Thelma enjoyed life by dancing, fishing, card playing, and trips to visit family in California and other parts of the US. The couple enjoyed sharing their farm and skills with the community’s youth as 4-H leaders and through the Rough Riders Saddle Club who met and held horse shows at their home.

Thelma was involved with the church participating in ladies’ aid, bible studies, quilting, and volunteering. Many of her relatives and special friends were gifted beautiful handmade doilies, quilts, pillows and afghans. Her gardens were bountiful, and she eagerly shared the foods of her talents in cooking and baking.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Leonard, Norman, and Alvin Skow, sisters Irma (Nick) DeGidio, her twin, and Ina (Bill) Gavin, and son-in-law Steven Falkers.

Thelma is survived by children Janice (Bruce) Teigen, Jeanette (Lee) Wright, Gerald (Kim) Hendricks, Robert (Wendy) Hendricks, JoAnn Falkers, and Jane (Bob) Kruger, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to the staff of Lawson Manor and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care of Thelma.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, December 16th, 2022 at 2 pm at the Bone Lake Lutheran Church, 1101 255th Avenue, Luck, Wisconsin 54853. Visitation will precede the service at 1 pm and a reception will immediately follow the service. Interment will be in the spring.
