Obituary for Thomas W. Lemieux, Sr.
Thomas “Tom” William Lemieux, Sr., of Lewis, Wisconsin, passed away suddenly on July 9, 2012, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, at 79 years of age.
Tom was born October 12, 1932 to Amos and Elizabeth Lemieux in Pierre, South Dakota. He was raised in South Dakota and attended school there, until moving to Wisconsin where he finished school at Frederic High School and graduated in 1950.
Tom married Elaine Carlson on December 5, 1952, and to this union they had three children, of whom they raised in the Lewis area. Tom was very active in his children’s activities, attending games and coaching many teams.
Tom was drafted into the United States Army on December 12, 1952, where he served his country during the Korean War for two years.
Tom worked many years at the Siren Feed Mill before retiring with the Larsen Auto Center of Frederic.
Tom was active in baseball, softball, bowling, golfing, the VFW, South Fork Sporting Club, Youth Sports, and many, many other activities and organizations.
Tom was a devoted Packer and Brewer fan! He also loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed attending the local dirt track races.
Tom’s family was very important to him. He spent alot of time at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed cooking dinner on Sundays for his family and taking the little boys for rides on the golf cart. Tom had a huge heart for his family.
In his later years in life, Tom enjoyed tending to his garden and took much pride in this. He enjoyed canning and making jelly out of the vegetables and fruit he would grow.
Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons, Tom Lemieux, Jr. and Terry (Beth) Lemieux; daughter, Laurie (Ed) Hopp; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at St. Dominics Catholic Church in Frederic, WI on Saturday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic on Friday, July 13 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service.
