Obituary for Vicki R. Peterson
Vicki R Peterson, 51, died peacefully on May 15, 2008, at her home in Frederic, WI, with all of her family around her. Vicki was born January 18, 1957, to John and Grace Tschumperlin of Frederic, WI. She attended and graduated from Frederic High School. Upon graduation Vicki married Arlen Peterson (also from Frederic) on June 28, 1975. Vicki and Arlen built their dream home, a perfect six-sided hexagon near Spirit Lake, west of Frederic where they were blessed with two children, a daughter, Erin, and a son, Eric. While living in the country Vicki enjoyed spending time working in her flower gardens and spending time with the houseboat that she and Arlen built on Spirit Lake. For many years Vicki worked part-time at Birchwood Beach Resort and Peterson Lumber and Wood Products. After moving into the village of Frederic in 1994, Vicki started new flower beds at her new home with the help of her oldest granddaughter, Andrea. This gave Vicki great joy to be able to teach her granddaughter the fun of flower gardening. Prior to Vicki’s death, Andrea asked to come over and plant Vicki’s flower gardens for her as she was not able to do it herself. Vicki also cherished spending time with all of her family and friends. She enjoyed morning coffee with friends downtown Frederic and spent the afternoons at her sister Patty’s for coffee and conversation with family. Vicki cherished the many family and friends she had. In 1994 Vicki was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and underwent extensive treatments to put this in remission. This cancer came back three times, and the last time was accompanied by an aggressive form of lung cancer. Even with extensive radiation and chemo treatments for this new form of cancer, she was not able to beat this one. Vicki was a very strong lady and did not want to give in to her new cancer, but finally did decide to stop all treatments as they were not working any more. Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, father and her oldest brother, John Jr. (Jack). Vicki is survived by her husband, Arlen; her daughter, Erin (TJ) Peterson; her son, Eric Peterson; granddaughters, Andrea and Samantha; grandsons, Austin, Jon and Ayden; her sisters, Carol (Pete) Mangelsen, Kathy (Keith) Lindquist, Dorothy (Bruce) Hughes, Patty (Lloyd) Knechtel; her brothers, Charlie (Mary) Tschumperlin and Gary Tschumperlin; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Countryside Inn north of Frederic. Interment will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Rowe Funeral Home of Frederic, Wisconsin, was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
