Obituary for Harold E. Tendrup Jr.
Harold E. Tendrup Jr., 77, resident of Amery, WI, Apple River Township, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, WI.


Harold was born in Amery, WI on April 10, 1935. Until 1947 the family made their home in Falun, WI. They then moved to the Balsam Lake area. Harold attended both the Goose Lake and Apple River country schools as a child. He later went to Balsam Lake where he graduated in 1953. He also attended Amery High School for two years because of their choir program.

He won awards for his singing when he was in school and was asked to sing in many weddings. He also sang with the Indianhead Choir for a few years.

After graduating high school, Harold joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Vegas, Maine and Biloxi before being sent to England. There on his first night at Fairford Air force base, he attended a wedding reception where he met the girl who would become his wife, Joyce. Of this union two children were born.

They returned to the states in 1962 and started farming. In 1975 they sold the dairy cows and Harold worked for a while as a carpenter before going to work at F A Dairy in Dresser, where he was a foreman in the packing room until retiring in 1997.

After his retirement he continued to work part time, for a while as a limousine driver and later as a groundskeeper at the Amery Golf Course.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Tendrup Sr. and Frieda (Hacker) Tendrup, an infant brother, Thomas, and his brother, Johnny.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Gary (Rene) Tendrup; daughter, Jolene (Scott) Olson; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis Beauvais) Johnston and Benjamin (Kristen) Olson; 3 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Emma and Garrett and one on the way; brother, Charles (Diana) Tendrup; sisters, Anna Marie (Tom) Capener, Barbara (Steve) Erickson, Linda Dahle, Liela (Larry) Loew and Dollie (Brad) Niemann; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cricket’s Bar Grill, County Road H, (north of Amery) on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m.
