Obituary for Allen K. Ormson
Allen Keith Ormson passed away peacefully on January 9, 2016 in Luck, WI at the United Pioneer Home. He lived 77 wonderful years.
He is remembered as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Al left this world a better place because he was a part of it.
His career path in education was inspirational and varied. Upon graduation from U.W. River Falls in 1963, he became a teacher/coach in the Durand, WI school system. Highlights of that time included two trips to the State Basketball Tournament in 1969 and 1970. He completed his Master's Degree at Winona State, then became superintendent of schools at Weyerhauser, WI in 1971. Luck became the Ormson's home in 1984 - where Al was the superintendent until his retirement in 1998.
Al was an avid outdoorsman as a hunter, fisherman and lover of nature. He enjoyed an occasional round of golf with friends, but never took the game too seriously! He spent many hours in his beautiful gardens where produce of every kind was abundant. Music was so important in his life, he loved to sing, but most of all he was a dancer. He and Mary Ann traveled the world with friends and family, enjoying trips to Budapest, Bucerias and points beyond, including times at Birch Lakes, the Iron River and the Blue Hills of Wisconsin.
Al was a man who had the courage of his convictions, and his integrity was an example to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann; son, David (Sandy) Ormson; daughter, Krista (Darren) Varley; grandchildren (who were his heart's delight), Sarah Ormson and Ryan Ormson; sisters, Shirley Hover and Char (Bill) Bohmer; brother, Duane (Judy) Ormson; brothers-in-law, Dick McGough and Paul (Kathy) McGough; sisters-in-law, Pat Nulman, Liz Jones, Mary McGough and Kathy (Jim) Batstone; many nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Grace Ormson; son, Jon Ormson; brother, Dean Ormson; brothers-in-law, Allen Hover, John McGough and Fen Jones; and sister-in-law, Karen McGough.
Al's family would like to thank the Luck community for their support during this journey, as well as the entire staff of the United Pioneer Home for their care.
